Some 8 months ago, after what felt like a lifetime of trying, my wife and I found out we were going to have a baby. If you want to know more about the lead up to finding out, you can read all about that here : So, I'm having a baby.
Fast forward to 7th May 2017, my wife (Jennifer) is now 1 day overdue, for a couple of days now she has felt more discomfort and is adamant that the baby is coming very soon. On this day though, things start getting serious; rather than writing everything that happened that day, we have a great video at the bottom of this post if you want to see the birth of our first child.
At the time of writing this post, It has now been almost 3 weeks since my beautiful baby boy was born, happy and healthy at 7lb 5oz. The whole sleep situation is not as bad as people make out, although if you ask Jennifer, she might say different. She has been exclusively breastfeeding and had to deal with the late night feeds while I gleefully sleep. I do feel like I am somewhat missing out not being able to feed my son, Jennifer says that not bottle feeding for the first 6 weeks helps avoid "nipple confusion," that sounds like a good thing, but can't wait to be able to take some of the pressure off Jen.
Although I can't yet feed Nathan, I make the most of spending time with him, be it some cuddles on the sofa or just jumping at the chance to change his nappy, I love taking the opportunity to bond with him and hopefully help Jen in the process. Anyhoo, it's pretty late right now and I have no idea how bad the spelling and grammar is in this post, so I guess it's time to go. Be sure to head over to our YouTube channel if you want to see more of us, including our newborn son.
